With proper care, your personalized, aluminum baking pan will last for many, many years. Here are some tips to keep your pan looking like new:
- Always hand-wash. Wash & dry the lid and place it in a safe place on the counter. Do not stack the colored aluminum lid in the sink with dishes or place silverware on top or near the lid, as it can scratch the surface. Placing your pan in a dishwasher almost always results in gray, black, brown, or gold discoloration. Handwashing, on the other hand, ensures that you will keep your pan looking shiny and new.
- Your aluminum baking pan is perfect for baking bars, cakes & desserts made from low-acid ingredients. Do not make and store foods with high-acid content in your aluminum pan. High-acid foods include apples, strawberries, rhubarb, and tomato. High-acid foods are best made and stored in a glass baking dish.
- Cut bars, cakes and desserts with a basic table knife, using minimal pressure. (Sticky bars, such as scotcheroos, are best cut while still warm with a basic table knife.) Do not use a butcher or paring knife to cut your baked goods. This can leave deep grooves in the pan bottom, or even puncture the pan if too much pressure is applied.
Use these handy tips, and you'll succeed in keeping your pan looking like new for many years to come!
