Lasagne

This is one of my family's favorite meals.  Beautifully served and enjoyed with fresh french bread or garlic toast and a vegetable (broccoli, green beans, peas, or corn).

1 onion 6 lasagne noodles
2 cloves garlic shredded mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp. olive oil or lard 1 lb. hamburger
1 lb. can tomatoes 2 tsp. sea salt
1 small can tomato paste 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 small can tomato sauce 1/2 tsp. oregano
  1 tsp. sugar

Cook 6 lasagne noodles until done.  Drain off water in a strainer.

In a large frying pan, saute onion and garlic in olive oil or lard.  Add hamburger and brown until done.  Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and spices.  Simmer for 30 minutes.

Using a 9x13 glass Pyrex baking dish arrange 3 cooked lasagne noodles on the bottom.  Spoon one-half of the meat sauce on top.  Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.  Top with remaining three noodles, then the rest of the meat sauce.  Top with enough shredded mozzarella cheese to cover the meat sauce.  Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.  Let set 10 minutes before serving. Cut & enjoy!

Please note: you may substitue 1 quart of home-canned tomatoes for the 1 lb. can of tomatoes. Drain juice before adding to frying pan.
